Thinks Koontz in Error

January 9, 2002

In response to Kip Koontz's article entitled, "Resolved! Do Something Better For Others!", I believe he has made a gross error.

He quoted, and agreed with, a statement from an advertising campaign that read, "In America you are not required to offer food to the hungry or shelter to the homeless. There is no ordinance forcing you to visit the lonely or comfort the infirm. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say you have to provide clothing for the poor. In fact, one of the nicest things about living here in America is that you really don't have to do anything for anybody."

As a taxpaying citizen, we are forced to feed the poor, clothe those without, and stuff the fat paychecks of those in power. They are called taxes, and a good portion goes to aid for the impoverished.
