Press Release From Frederick County Libraries:

FREDERICK, MD, [January 16, 2020] – Frederick County Public Libraries (FCPL) is pleased to announce that the highly acclaimed, bestselling author, Wes Moore has been selected as the 2020 speaker for their annual Frederick Reads event. This program is a collaborative effort between FCPL, Frederick Community College, and the Weinberg Center for the Arts.

Moore will make two appearances, the first on Monday, April 20, 2020 at 7 p.m. at the Weinberg Center for the Arts, and the second on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at 11:15 a.m. at the Jack B. Kussmaul Theater at Frederick Community College. Both events are open to the public, tickets are free but required and can be obtained beginning Tuesday, March 10 at 10:00 a.m. at weinbergcenter.org by phone at 301-600-2828, or in person at the Weinberg Center for the Arts box office at 20 West Patrick Street.

Moore’s New York Times Bestseller, The Other Wes Moore, chronicles the lives of two kids named Wes Moore who both grew up fatherless in similar Baltimore neighborhoods. The author’s journey took him from wayward inner city youth to decorated combat veteran, Rhodes Scholar, White House fellow, social entrepreneur, and business leader while the other Wes Moore ended up convicted of murder and serving a life sentence.

Moore’s latest work will be released in March 2020. Five Days: The Fiery Reckoning of an American City is a kaleidoscopic account of five days in the life of a city on the edge, told through seven characters on the frontlines of the protests that overtook Baltimore and riveted the world in 2015.

This program is also supported by The C. Burr Artz Trust, The Ausherman Family Foundation, Frederick Arts Council, Delaplaine Foundation, Curious Iguana, and Plamondon Hospitality.
