One Possible Scenario for Trump Presidency
Kuching, Malaysian Borneo – There is land in the United States that is owned by the federal government. This land belongs to you and me. Some of the land is managed by the Park Service, like Assateague Island. This land belongs to you and me and stewarded by the Department of The Interior.
Out west, the land owned by the federal government is vast. There must be over 245 million acres of land. This land belongs to you and me. It is managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). They are responsible for keeping the land for all of us.
The BLM leases some of this land for us. For you and me. It will lease the land to ranchers who own cows. The land is leased to ranchers at a nominal fees, so the cows can graze on the land. The ranchers, in turn, must keep the land pristine and move cows from one section of grass to another. This is a win-win situation.
Ninety per cent of the ranchers, who rent the land from us, are Republican. That's okay. They can lead their lives according to Republican values. That's okay, too. Some of these states pay their teachers very little and they must scramble for summer jobs to make ends meet. The Republican ranchers don't do anything from November to March. The land is usually snowed in, with temperatures well below zero. Most years. I guess they sit in their easy chairs and watch football after they feed the cows they have.
This year, the Republicans will likely nominated Donald Trump. He will be very different from any other president we have seen if elected. "Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S." says a statement at the end of each Trump article in the Huffington Post. However, let's put all that aside for a moment.
Donald Trump is a land developer and an entrepreneur. His job is to convert land into something profitable. A vacant lot is an anathema to him unless there is something on it. He will look at America and try to figure how to develop it. He will see the 245 million acres of land managed by the BLM and promptly dissolve the BLM.
With the BLM dissolved, he will divide the acres into manageable lots. Say a half a million acres each. Then he will sell the lots to the highest bidder. This means the mainland Chinese will end up owning most of it. The ranchers could not afford to purchase the BLM land because the rich mainland Chinese will outbid them.
The mainland Chinese will then shoot and process all the buffalo and the occasional cow you forgot to get off their land. Then they will go after any mineral rights, coal, gas or oil underneath the ground. While doing that, they will scrape up any top soil and sell it in bags to the gardening centers on the east and west coasts. Then, they will leave the land. The price of beef will become more expensive that even the top 10% will be able to barely afford.
The ranchers now have a stark reality of what will possibly face them if they elect Donald Trump. Right now, he has no idea what the BLM is or what it does. He probably doesn't even know that they manage 245 million acres.
But after inauguration day, or a few months later, he will find out because somebody will tell him. They, like all the people who said Britain would remain in the EU, probably figure the ranchers would end up owning the BLM land.
No, my friend, no. It will go to the highest bidder. Not the highest American bidder, but to the highest bidder. For this reason, which is a real possibility, you need to think about changing your vote.
...Life is good. . . . .
